A Tour of Zoe for Couples

''I'm an excellent house keeper. Every time I get divorced, I keep the house.'' -- Zsa Zsa Gabor

A marriage is a complex connection between two people that is extremely difficult to analyze, comprehend and improve.

It involves multiple facets of each person's intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual life as well as the intricate interactions between a husband and wife and each person's co-workers, friends and family members.

The challenges of marriage are dynamic -- changing day-to-day, season-to-season and throughout each person's life.

Zoe has thoroughly analyzed the multiple facets, numerous interactions and dynamic challenges of a marriage and designed and developed a comprehensive and effective process to help any couple with their marriage.

The following discussion explains all the aspects of the Zoe approach and will help you better understand the steps in the process. Even though some couples decide to use Zoe without an Advisor, this "tour" includes the typical contributions from an Advisor so you can envision the complete marriage preparation picture (for more details on using Zoe without an Advisor, please see the FAQs page).

The Zoe Process involves three simple steps:

Step 1: Register

The Zoe Process begins at the "Purchase" screen. Enter your credit card information, at least one email address and a password and click the "Purchase" button at the bottom of the screen. If you would prefer to pay by check, just mail your check to the address provided on the Contact Us screen. (Please allow five to ten days for your check to clear.)

The next screen will ask you to provide the email address of your Zoe Advisor and approve him or her as your Advisor. If you arrived at the "Purchase" screen by clicking on a link in an email from Zoe and your Advisor, you will not be required to enter his or her email address since you are already "linked" to your Advisor's Zoe account.

You are now ready to answer the Zoe Questions.

Step 2: Answer Questions

Zoe asks over 300 questions to each partner separately, which takes each person anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes to answer. The questions will request a response that is either open-ended, fill in the blank, multiple choice, agreement or ranking.

Take your time answering the questions and think closely about what is being asked. Do not rush your responses! Some couples click through each page too quickly, inadvertently select an answer they did not aim to choose and then are disappointed when their feedback report displays a response that was not intended.

Finally, when answering the agreement questions, be brutally honest in reporting the strength of your agreement with the statement. You are encouraged to select the "tend to agree" or "tend to disagree" response if that is truly how you feel about the statement. Some couples will shy away from selecting these two options because the responses seem "middle of the road" or "weak." For the most helpful feedback, always select the response that most accurately reflects your feelings.

After you have finished, go on a date and discuss the questions. This is a valuable exercise because it will get you talking about issues. After your date, contact your Advisor to begin working together.

Step 3: Work Together
As shown in the following diagram, your Advisor has access to your Zoe Advisor Feedback Report and also can release your access to your Zoe Couple Feedback Report:

Once your Advisor releases your access, download and print your feedback report and spend some time together familiarizing yourselves with the content. Consider clicking on some of the concepts in the Concepts Tables and reading some of the research summaries. By reading and discussing your feedback, you will get the most out of your sessions with your Zoe Advisor.

And finally, Zoe provides your Advisor with tools that can be emailed to you on any marriage category. These emails are like "homework assignments" that will help you work on any issues in your relationship in between sessions with your Advisor.

This tour has given you more detailed information about the overall Zoe process and some things to expect when working with your Advisor.
